Pupil Premium 

The Pupil Premium was introduced nationally in April 2011 and provides schools with additional funding to help close the gap between children from low income and other disadvantaged families, and their peers nationally.

The funding is paid by means of a specific grant based on Field Court C of E Infant Academy’s school census figures for pupils registered as eligible for Free School Meals in each year group, from Reception to Year 2. Any child who has been registered for FSM in the past 6 years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’) will be included in the register.

For Looked After Children, the Pupil Premium was calculated using the annual Children Looked After data returns (SSDA903).

A premium is also paid to the school for children whose parents are currently serving in the Armed Forces.  This service premium is designed to address the emotional and social well-being of these pupils.

The Pupil Premium is additional and separate to main school funding.  It will be used by this school to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible and their peers nationally by ensuring that funding reaches the pupils who need it most. 

As a school we recognise that there are many reasons for financial disadvantage, not just unemployment but also from a reduced income due to a range of other factors, including career changes, undertaking further training, long term sickness and caring responsibilities.

We are committed to supporting children and their families regardless of home situations and are keen to emphasise that financial disadvantage does not automatically equate to low ability.  We have high aspirations for all our children and the additional Pupil Premium budget enables us to provide additional personalised supported to maximise learning and to present enhanced opportunities.
